Let's get started, For a free SSL certificate for your custom domain or subdomain you need a free Cloudflare account. If you don't have an account follow the link to create a free Cloudflare account.

Note: Your main domain must be configured and registered through Cloudflare to enable SSL

1) Let's set up the A record that points to the URLS.ie server. Go to the DNS tab, You need to add A records for your domain or subdomain to the same IP address that was provided to you by URLS.ie. DNS will look like the following. Make sure you enable the Proxied option.

2) After successfully adding A record, you can head on to the SSL/TLS. Click on Overview. Now make sure you will select "Flexible" among all four options. Turn off SSL/TLS Recommender as well.

3) This is the last step of the configuration. We have to redirect all "HTTP" URLs to the "HTTPS". To transfer a non-HTTP URL to HTTPS redirection, you have to set up a Page Rule.

Click "add page rules" to add new page rules.

Starting with the URL (eg. http://yourdomain.com) add your non-HTTP domain & then pick up the setting as Forwarding URL, these will create a pattern to match the URL you want to forward. Afterward, select the status code 301- Permanent Redirect. Enter the destination URL to which you will redirect with HTTP (https://yourdomain.com).

4) Thereafter, go to the Domain option in the left-hand menu, then click Create in the top right-most corner to add the domain that you want to add in URLS.ie.

5) Add your custom domain with the prefix "HTTPS" (https://yourdomain.com).

When you successfully add your domain in URLS.ie. It will show you the "Unverified" tag in your domain. Don't worry when you point your domain or subdomain to our IP address it will take 24 hours to 72 hours for the complete redirect.

If your domains are not verified then these are the possible reasons:

1. Your domain's DNS A record is not pointing to our server IP Address.

2. Your domain's DNS A record is pointing to multiple IP Addresses. It must point to only one IP Address.

You can check the A record configuration from this site click here.

Our system will auto-check whether your domain is pointing towards our IP address or not, and when your domain is successfully redirected to our IP address, It will show a "Verified" tag beside your domain. When your domain is "verified" then you can use your custom domain or subdomain to generate shortened links.

Note: Domain point to our server will take up to 24 to 72 hours to be set to active mode.

The Domain will perform on your preferred name with the expected format such as, "http://guidance.com". For an instance "http://guidance.com/QreTds" or "http://guidance.com/JKyutDe"

Custom 404:

When you already had the shortened URL and if it was deleted or updated then it will open a 404 error page by default.

You can also configure a custom 404 and it will directly open your desired link which you mentioned here.

Custom redirect URL:

If your domain is verified presently then it will show {“error”: false, “message”: “Your domain is configured successfully”} and if you had mistakenly considered it as an error, therefore URLS.ie has developed this functionality that will redirect to URL that you has added of your preference.

You're done! Setting up a Custom Domain name and obtaining a FREE SSL on URLS.ie is very easy with the help of Cloudflare.
